my lists of lists
of best free software.
I’ve been searching for good free software for a while, mostly for Windows, but since I switched to Linux, for that too. Some of these links are starting points (websites with great info to sift through), others are plain lists. In no particular order:
- lifehacker - one of my favorite places to look for tips of new technology available
- osalt - a new website that automatically gives you an open-source software alternative for your commercial programs
- the Linux equivalent project - gives you a Linux equivalent for Windows software
- sourceforge - the world’s largest open-source software development website
- freeware wiki - a HUGE list of freeware out there
- the simple dollar - more a financial site but with a great post on this subject
- the 46 ever best freeware utilities - it is what it says, and there’s an extended list as well
- quinnware forum - somebody posted their personal list, others commented with their own…there are probably tons of these types of lists…
- give away of the day - yes, you guessed it. Commercial software for free, & every day there’s a new download…make sure to subscribe to their feed so you don’t miss anything! (windows only)
- snapfiles - freeware section is a good library of available software
- gnome packages - this huge list is for my ubuntu with gnome desktop
- my own personal list - coming soon (one for windows, one for linux, hopefully)
Enjoy!
